Eight-year-olds Rahma and Mariam come from Egypt and they are best friends. Together they attend classes in Athens, Greece, at Solidarity Now’s Green-Homework & Creative Activities Center. Mariam wants to become an engineer and Rahma wants to be a doctor. Their science and mathematics teacher decided to use one of Blossom Hill’s experiential science kits — the magnetic fishing pole kit. It was the first time the girls had the opportunity to experiment with magnets and learn how they interact with various materials. The girls were visibly excited about engaging in science since being displaced.
