Members of Blossom Hill’s El Sistema Youth Orchestra were back on stage for three holiday concerts this year to share the joy and warmth of Christmas across Athens through music.
They performed at two unforgettable sold-out jazz concerts including the world’s most loved film songs internationally in a dreamy scene at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center under the direction of conductor Jose Angel Salazar Marin alongside the Cypriot singer Alexia Vassiliou.
They brought to life Scrooge, a cantata for young voices based on Charles Dickens’ famous Christmas Carols, at the Amphitheater of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation. Special guests attending the concert included 15 unaccompanied minors from the IOM shelter of Piraeus who have recently arrived in Greece. Our students gave them a warm welcome and invited them to join their classes, concerts, and other future activities.
Finally, our musicians tuned their instruments, warmed up their voices and held a unique concert at Muses Foyer of the Megaron Athens Concert Hall. The Kypseli Orchestra and the El Sistema Greece Youth Choir, which include members of Blossom Hill’s Youth Orchestra, presented a Christmas concert with favorite songs and carols from different places around the world, sending their wishes for more happiness and even more music.
