Blossom Hill Fellow Dimitra Raftopoulou’s second session of the beginner’s refugee orchestra is in full swing. The orchestra is more solidified with students having developed meaningful relationships among themselves and with their Greek peers. The sense of social inclusion comes through in their improved sound quality.
The orchestra is composed largely of refugees from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan as well as Greek children. The orchestra will perform at the National Opera House in April and in Thessaloniki in June. The year will end with a finale concert alongside the Yale Alumni Choir.
