‘I was so happy when I tried writing for the first time…’

Fourteen-year old Sahar’s eyes light up every time she masters a new word. In Afghanistan where only 23% of women are literate, she’s writing her own story of transformation through our Girls Empowerment Program.

From learning to read and write to mastering sewing skills, Sahar’s journey represents hope in action. ‘I feel very happy when I enter the class,’ she shares, ‘because the learning I acquire here can brighten my future.’

Today, this brilliant student dreams of becoming a teacher herself, hoping to pass on the gift of education to others. One girl, one classroom, one dream at a time – this is how change begins.
