Beyond barriers: Where laughter finds safe space

The joy on these children’s faces tells the story of something special happening at our Sama Community Center in Malakasa, Greece. Recently, Elio the Clown brought his magic to our space, creating moments of pure childhood joy for refugee children from both nearby camps.

While across Greece, such performances are often cut short by security or limited to camp entrances, our center provides something different – a consistent, safe haven beyond camp boundaries where children can simply be children

This is why spaces like our community center matter so deeply. Here, self-expression and carefree moments aren’t luxury but necessity. Sometimes, transformation begins with something as simple as making room for laughter.
